-Hey Shumway. It’s great you regaling us with funny stuff from England and all, but have you forgotten that there’s an election, and we all need advice from influencers like you to help us with our choices tomorrow? After all, this is the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN HISTORY, right?
Okay. I know you’ve all been waiting, and far be it from me to not tell you whom to vote for, so here’s my endorsement: None of the Above.
I know, actually nobody is asking this two-bit substacker, and what difference is a Mark Twain quote going to make? You’ve all decided what you’re going to do. This post isn’t about urging or nudging you in any direction; it’s just to explain why I’m not voting. I don’t want any of my friends and readers to think that I’m just being cynical or contrarian for the heck of it. I’ve put a little thought into this abstention.
Firstly, please show me the evidence that the vote-rigging schemes of 2020 have been eliminated, and that this time the ballots will be counted fairly. If you can’t, then I ask, “If they can commit fraud, they will commit fraud, so Why are you participating in a fraudulent election?”
-Well, DW, at least you could make a protest vote. You could vote third party. You could vote for the better of the two main choices and at least be able to say you did your part!
Hang on. The abstention is a protest vote. Like that Rush song, If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. At the very least, it’s a vote of no confidence in the system. It could be a vote of no confidence in the government and the choices they give us, and it could be a vote of no confidence in the voting system only. Dominion counting machines? I vote no confidence! If we mechanically line up every time to vote no matter what, we lose that protest option. Look at the map below. Every election, the Australian media can say, “The Australian population has decided on candidate X, or referendum X.” How many Australians didn’t like any of the candidates, or the system itself, or had no confidence that their votes would be counted? We don’t know because they don’t have the option of abstaining. Here’s your choices, Sheila. Now go vote. Don’t mind the gun to your head.
.
Yeah but, yeah but, listen Shumway, if we can get enough people to vote, we can overcome the fraud margin. We know they’re gonna try to rig it for Kamala, but if it’s a landslide they won’t be able to fake it. That’s why you need to vote!
So we’ll need 37% or whatever extra above the line because a simple, honest majority won’t do it because essentially they’re only counting a portion of my vote? Gosh, I can’t wait to go down to my precinct and be 3/5 of a person.
Come on, DW. It’s not that high. It’s more like 10 or 15%, ‘nkay?
Whatever it is, it’s still fraud.
But look, I get it. Some of you reading will say, “Suck it up, Shumway, we have to try to overcome the obstacles, because if Kamala is elected, we’re finished!”
Fine, I’ll grant you that my vote might really matter, and that ‘she’, that is, those who control her, are out to wreck the country. No, I’ll go one more. Just for argument sake, let’s say all Trump votes will be counted this time and there will be no anomalies. Now I have to vote, right? Well, I agree that there will be some kinds of differences between a Trump administration and a Harris administration, so if the election is clean, I should get out and vote for the better less bad option. Fine. But guess what? I honestly don’t know which is the worse option!
-What?!! Heresy! You know that cackling Kamala is going to destroy the nation!
Leaving out the issue of whether or not Kamala has anything to do with decisions coming from the White House (ditto Obama, Trump, Bush, etc.), yes, OK, I’m with you. A Harris administration is poison to the nation. But what if, just what if, Trump is poison too?
-Well, he’s not.
-What if he is?
-He’s not.
-But what if?
-Then you still have to vote for him, because she’ll wreck the nation right away. At least with Trump we have some time.
And here is the rub. If I think Trump is poison for the nation, then both candidates are poison. (Since I’m not going to convince Trump voters that Donald is lethal poison for the nation, as the Cap’n Warp Speed saga fazes them not, there’s no point in listing the rest of his transgressions.) And since both candidates are part of the destruction, and the country is going down anyway, the only question that remains is this: Who will destroy the nation quicker?
And the follow up question to that is this: Do you want the structure to collapse sooner or later?
Suppose candidate A is so bad that she will certainly wreck our nation within a few years max. Candidate B is bad but we’ll be able to hold on to some semblance of nationhood for a while longer, maybe a decade or two.
Q: Do you want to rebuild your nation with a country of 65% legacy Americans or 65% recent immigrants?
Across the Western World, they are poisoning us, slow-killing us with the clot shot, and replacing our populations with massive immigration. Look at Dublin today. Do you want Ireland to be Irish? If these immigrants become the majority, will Ireland be restored to sanity?
Do we want leaders who bring the whole thing to an end in a wanton act of destruction, or do we want leaders who give us the slow kill, so that by the time the country is ready to be rebuilt, the legacy population will be too small to be significant?
Is that a silly question?
Dang it, Shumway. Why do you torture me like this? You think deeper than I’ve been able go. You have the cajones to say the unspoken truth that there is no political answer to our dilemma.
That being said, I have been lured in by one or a few siren calls*. "My mistake last time was picking the wrong people for my administration". And…since I’d rather be healthy as we dive off the Cliffs of Insanity, I’m stoked about RFK Jr having a chance to set everything right with regard to vaxxes, Hydroxychloroquine, Ivermectin, DMSO, Big Pharma liability as well as sending everybody to jail at the FDA. And, let’s see Elon take the scythe to all the government agencies that have produced no results regardless what percentage of the GDP they steal from us. I’m willing to give him a chance to succeed even though I see disappointment as the most likely result.
*siren call
noun
: something that is very appealing and makes a person want to go somewhere or do something but that may have bad results
Good grief, Dan, your writing just keeps getting better and better. I may have to start taking lessons from you.
Don't vote. It encourages them.
Voting is nothing more than choosing whose hand holds the club with which you are beaten. It does nothing to stop the beatings.
