Incidentally, that's why I have given up on Netflix, etc., these past few years: most of the new fare is insufferably ( self-consciously ) woke. I can't stand to be lectured and/or manipulated, when all I am looking for is wholesome, honest — even intelligent — entertainment. Let millennials and zees have this denatured, cartoonish slop; most can't tell the difference, anyway ( since the mediated simulacrum they mentally inhabit has very little to do with reality ). . . . And yes, commerce is the nemesis of meaningful art and culture, as brilliantly expressed by Edmund Carpenter, here:
