Today Twitter told me Grok was freely available to everyone, and why don’t I give it a try? In another post, I noted that the Brave AI assistant, Leo, wasn’t half bad- at least in one particular instance, it could have answered my query in a mostly-woke, half-truth manner, as you would expect from a Wikipedia article for example, but seemed to stick to the truth.
I think I’ve also mentioned that Bart Lambert did a bang-up job using AI as part of the campaign to free Jesse Boyd from the tyranny of a corrupt local police force and judiciary. AI can be used for good and we have to use it to our advantage, being very wary as we do- certainly we can’t trust Musk’s Grok nor any other mainstream AI generator; I believe that at the core they are designed to lead us to our doom, the same way Hollywood and the MSM are set up. But we can wield these weapons if we’re smart. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness… (Eph 6:14)
With that in mind, I decided to try the Grok image generator. My first query: Draw me the old Kingdome erupting like a volcano.
The grok-generated image was pretty unconvincing. The image didn’t look much like that huge, drab monstrosity that once blighted the view of downtown Seattle, a city with an otherwise impressive skyline. There was not much improvement with Draw me Natalie Portman standing atop the kingdome. My recollection of the Kingdome is obviously much better than Grok’s.
Next I tried draw me a VW beetle with tank tracks.

And finally, draw me Dennis Quaid shaking hands with DW Shumway in front of a VW Beetle with tank tracks.
There you have it, I’m either 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or full Asian. To the Japanese ear, “Shumway” has a vaguely Chinese ring to it. I guess Grok feels the same way.
If Grok doesn’t know you, you’re still a nobody. If this status doesn’t change, I’ll at least be able to continue to go incognito with my BBR & KLA, gumshoe investigative work.
