What are you willing to risk?
An Irish doctor could lose his license; interview with Dr. Marcus DeBrun
At Saturday breakfast, a couple interesting points of discussion have come up:
We shouldn’t let the news of the day cause us to fret.
What are we to do about the ills of the world? How much should we oppose Leviathan and how much should we try to ignore Leviathan and do the best we can in our community instead? After all, doesn’t Romans 13 tell us to render to Caesar?
Dave Gleason seems to lean toward the idea that the elite will do what they gotta do and in the end it’s all in God’s hands (we’ve already won! [TM]) and we can’t really do anything about it, and plus the Bible tells us God has put authority in place here on earth and it’s incumbent upon us to respect this Godly-appointed authority, our job is not to get all huffy and involved in politics and such and let’s just do the best we can in our community and personal networks.
I get it, in the sense that letting the news ‘get to us’, especially if we’re not doing anything about it (or can’t) is detrimental and a waste of time. And I understand that legitimate authority should be respected. Key word: legitimate. But I also know about righteous anger, and even righteous hatred, and that it can spur us on to acts of courage which are necessary in the fight against evil. The trick is to not let your mind be muddled by the anger and hatred. Sin darkens the mind. Anger and hatred can darken the mind too, but they can also be used for good.
So if I go on a rant about some deep injustice or outrage, I understand the reaction, “Jeesh, Shumway. Whattya gettin’ all worked up about?” if the idea is It’s nice this outrage bothers you but if you just sit on your ass then you may as well not be outraged, in fact why pay attention to the news at all if either a) you can’t do anything about it, or b) you won’t do anything about it.
After Dave mentioned the biblical injunction to submit to authority, I piped up and said, “I think this depends on whether the authority is legitimate or not.” Then I gave the example of working at a high school in Japan where all 80 members of the staff were wearing the mask, according to the directive from the authorities, and all but three or four of the staff got the vaccine, in line with what the authorities were telling the public they needed to do to be safe and to safeguard others. Nobody in the Saturday breakfast group is a branch covidian so I knew they’d agree with me that this was all bad advice and bad leadership from the authorities in Japan. I said, “In that case, when I decided to buck authority and be the only one to stop wearing the mask, and then pass out anti-clot shot literature to all my students and be vocal about it, was this counter to biblical teaching? Should I have respected authority and went along with the protocols? ‘Get your clot shot, kids! The government says so!’”
I mention this story because the interview here is with a man who bucked authority too and went against the government protocols. I don’t feel like much of a hero for not wearing a mask and passing out that information- they weren’t going to fire me for it. In fact they gave up on trying to get me to put the mask back on and although I was hauled into the principal’s office twice and told to stop handing out the vax info sheets, they never said I was putting my job in jeopardy. The only thing I risked was upsetting a few fellow teachers and students for going against the grain. But except for the one student who asked me if I was a terrorist, I wasn’t upsetting the students (crazy gaijin will do what they gotta do!) and except for my mentor teacher who tried to tell me a few times to put the mask back on, without luck, and the vice principal who pleaded with me “just this once” to wear my mask during open house, which I did (sorry), I was left alone. Pretty low-risk heroics really.
Meanwhile Dr. Marcus DeBrun risks losing his job and his license for his stance, even at this stage of the plandemic. Some people think that all hell will have to be paid when the people wake up and see what’s been done to them with this vaccine. Maybe that’s why the authorities are still persecuting people like Dr. De Brun.

I'm not sure that "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" means to submit to authority. After all, Jesus threw the money changers out of the temple and I bet they were state sanctioned. Or sanctioned by religious authorities for sure.
I stopped following the news long before the panic, for this very reason, nothing I can do about it, and, not wanting to spend the time necessary to learn how much of a given story was true. The heart breaking fact is, people do not care enough to allow themselves to get informed enough on any topic that might cause righteous anger and prompt them to act. Certainly true on masks, but many other subjects as well; FATCA/FBAR and CBT are my favorite conjoined trio of monstrosities American citizens abroad have to suffer with. Most do not know even at this late date and do not want to, just like with masks.
Few, if any, will come to the aid of this doctor because no one cares for justice more than they care for the things they stand to lose if they were to do so.
