Everybody’s Got a Story is going to be a fun interview feature at BBR. I tell you what, though, here in the valley I’ve already heard enough heavy/way-out-there stuff to conclude that I’m on the cusp of becoming the Art Bell of the Bitterroot! I might have to split this feature between stuff within the Overton window that normies can consume like spoon-fed Gerber and stuff in the paranormal/spiritual realm that require a mind open to the possibility of miracles. Maybe the 2nd feature will be called BBR Night Stories and play well after the kids have been put to bed.
I was at a dinner party last night and met a guy, call him Blake, who seemed like the most straight laced, grounded dude you could meet. He was well-dressed, clean-shaven, educated and well-spoken and knowledgeable in myriad areas. After determining that the Overton Window in the room was pretty wide, and there were no “well I never!” normies present, he told about a few crazy things that had happened to him. Stuff that’s unexplainable in a trust-the-science way. As I listened I thought, “Why would he lie here?” or “What would possess this guy to come up with this stuff?” because there are only 3 possibilities:
-He’s lying.
-He’s not lying, but deluded enough to believe these whoppers.
-The stories are true.
I’m not going to color your judgement by telling you what I feel about Blake’s stories. Hopefully we’ll get him on the show and you can decide for yourself if Blake is pulling your leg, telling the truth, or bananas.
On that note, let’s begin our Night Stories feature with Pastor Rick’s tale of his experience following the famous American rock band, The Grateful Dead.
That’s about all I’m going to preface this interview with, except for this: Those of you who still think rock and roll is all innocent stuff, listen carefully!
Rick wanted me to make sure I put this caveat in front of the interview:
He has spent the last 20 years pastoring a church in Southern California and has dedicated his life bringing people to Christ. He rejects the life he used to live, which you will learn a little about in the interview. He’s done with the old self, and is living in the new.
Surely you heard of Him and were taught in Him—in keeping with the truth that is in Jesus— to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Eph. 4:22-24
