You’ve all seen the comparisons between labels on the US version of snacks, sauces, drinks, etc. and their counterparts in Europe, right?
The question is, “Do enough Americans even care?” I saw an guy in line yesterday buying only Doritos and Little Debbie cupcakes with patriotic-themed frosting. I guess he was getting in the mood for Memorial Day. The ingredients for the ketchup above are tame compared to what you see on the snacks he bought. He doesn’t give a rip, and to each his own, I suppose. But why not at least leave the worst garbage out of your junk food? If you’re gonna keep eating Doritos, how about adopting the UK recipe, and ditch the death-cull US version? Would junk-food Johnny really prefer the American Heinz ketchup over the French version above?
Garth McBride, one of my co-workers at the job site, always whips out a donut or pastry or some other sugar/chemical/calorie bomb at the beginning of the day. He always laughs when Lars Hansen and I eat a light lunch of stuff like a hard boiled egg, avocado with nothing, or apple with some organic peanut butter on it. As he’s wolfing his morning old-fashioned donut, he tells me, “If I don’t get this in me early I’ll run out of energy and have the shakes by 11.” I believe him but disagree with the idea that energy can only come from Hostess Cupcake-type garbage. On multiple-day jobs up in the Flathead, when the crew shares an AirBnB house, we get a bunch of groceries at the supermarket, on the company dime. The boss lets us eat well and we have plenty of meat, decent eggs, good produce, etc. Garth makes sure he throws in a box of donuts and a couple super-size bags of sugar bomb kiddy cereal. Nobody’s gonna tell him how to eat. But again, to each his own. Admittedly, I can’t resist the old-fashioned donuts and I help myself to my share. And Garth is in good shape and doesn’t carry much fat. Then again, he did complain about brain fog the other day. Those fruit loops are delicious but do you really think the butylated hydroxytoluene and Disodium 6-hydroxy-5-[(2-methoxy-5-methyl-4-sulfonatophenyl)diazenyl]naphthalene-2-sulfonate is helping your mental acuity?
Considering the fractured nature of our once-proud republic, I think maybe the only solution is a balkanization of the country. Then after a few years or decades we can work out a new confederation if we want to unite again. For the time being, I like the idea of Greater Idaho. It’ll consist of Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Eastern Oregon, most of Wyoming, and whatever parts of the Dakotas that more closely resemble the spirit of the mountain West, and less the midwest-weirdness of Minneapolis and Madison.
One thing I would like to see local law enforcement do is show their community their obedience to the constitution.
And I’d like to see a community ask itself, “What laws are repugnant to the Constitution?” Once we establish which laws are contrary to the Constitution, we go to law enforcement and remind them of Marbury vs. Madison and demand a promise that such unconstitutional ‘laws’ will not be enforced. Can you think of some examples?

Don’t' forget:
As for the deportations (and I’m speaking of deportation of illegals, not PhD students with green cards who commit crimespeak or thought crime), a couple questions:
How many are actually being deported? I want comparisons of the actual numbers of deported vs A.) those coming in still, and B.) illegal arrivals in the last 5 years. Are the deportations significant in number or only a drop in the bucket?
Why are we sending unconvicted-of-crimes detainees to maximum security prisons, rather than simply deporting them? This send the alleged gang members to a super-max in El Salvador without trial reminds me of the 911-inspired war on terror, where we just grabbed people and without trial sent them to off-shore, mass torture facilities. Doesn’t sound very American, or MAGA to me.
Maga types- am I too hard on Trump, our only hope? Before you answer yes, wait for my next post. I’m convinced he’s a fraud and a scoundrel, and I will make a simple case for that. Then you can tell me whether I’m full of prunes or not. Meanwhile, a little hint as to the content of the next post:

Instead of judges deciding that certain laws do not square with the Constitution, we have judges making their own law, Roe v. Wade, for instance. As to the Constitution itself, I follow in the footsteps of Lysander Spooner.
If that photo of George and Barbie Bush has not been enhanced, I'll eat it. Something is definitely off but I can't quite put my finger on it.
