Knowing that the full-time, summer work season here in the valley would be coming to a gradual close in September, I had another high-fallutin’ Fun Dan idea: do a month-before-election, USA road trip in October, as a precursor to opening up Bitterroot Beacon Radio. I’d drum up interest in local radio and truth-bomb podcasting by interviewing the best of dissident voices across the country. And I could put my travel-writing chops to good use too.
If you’re curious about how ten years ago I tricked some Dominican MLB hopefuls into thinking I was a scout for the Mariners, and got away with my neck intact, click the image of me ‘scouting’ below.
A few days after this USA-trip thought I had another: heck, why not tack on a Europe portion to that trip? Make it in September after the August throngs have returned home. Interview the best dissident voices in the old country too! Right away I wrote Andy in Japan and asked if he’d be my tech man. A day later his reply was “YES!”
He’ll be on summer vacation from university in September, so the timing is perfect.
DW-but Andy, this isn’t just fun and games here. You’ll have to do a bunch of work for me. And remember, I’m a cheapskate and we’ll be on a shoestring budget. Traveling in 3rd-class busses, staying at noisy hostels and sleeping on sofas at friends’ houses, eating lots of bread and cheese and cheap spaghetti plates. You know the deal.
Andy-Kenny says the cheese in Europe is really good.
D-That it is.
A-Then I’m going.
Ahh. Cheese: The way to a teenager’s heart.
So I’ll be spending August working on details, but in a nutshell it’s going to be like this:
Face-to-face-interviews with the best of the dissident crowd in the UK, Holland, Germany and Switzerland. Interviewees in other countries will be considered, depending on time, budget and availability.
Getting the man-on-the-street opinion about current events and the question, Where to, Western Man? (example: if we foray into France, I’ll ask the locals, “What’s your opinion of the France, ‘24 Olympics?)
Spice it all up with a bit of general-interest travel writing. (Europe: what was, what it is now, and what it can be)
Here are some people I’d like to interview:
Scotland: Neil Oliver
England: David Icke
Holland: Catherine Austin Fitts
Germany: CJ Hopkins
George Galloway, Ivor Cummins, Vasco Kohlmeyer, Paul Joseph Watson, Riley Waggaman (via Zoom unless I make it to Russia), Robert Fico, Victor Orban, and many more.
If you like the idea, click ‘like’ on this stack and give me some ideas for the interviews. Just the Euro portion for now. I’ll ask for USA ‘24 potential interviewees in a future stack.
and here’s a few more potential interviewees:
lastly, in the man on the streets category: Jules Archambeau, Wallonian farmer:
You have "fire in the belly", Dan! These projects couldn’t even be conceived, much less executed without it. Spread the fire!
Jules Archambeau, Wallonian farmer, looks just like you. Is he your brother?
