That’s a lot of Bs in the title of this post. So be it -heh; Montana likes ‘B’ names. Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Bridger Bowl, etc.
I chose the name Bitterroot Beacon Radio with an image in my head- up top of St. Mary’s peak, about halfway up/down the valley from Missoula, I see a big lighthouse shining down and illuminating all of Ravalli County and beyond. The light of truth floods the valley!
This station will feature lots of interviews, mini-documentaries, local news and features, announcements, music, and more. I’ll get into more detail in my official, grand-opening announcement. For now, I just want to see if I can manage step 1: create a beta-test website, a youtube and rumble page, and a twitter and instagram site.
Here’s the preliminary logo:
Pretty basic, but I’m just working with fonts on Powerpoint for now. Lukas liked it; it has a German-named font: Bahnschrift (Railroad Font!)
Later I’ll get a real, flesh-and-blood artist to make us a logo for the ‘BBR’ and the lighthouse image. I tried AI image-making but nothing satisfied- too artsy for a radio logo. This was my first time using AI and when the box came up where you type in what you want done, before I got to the logo I just wanted to see how it worked so I typed in “Chinese girl and puppies”. This is what it gave me:
So here’s the deal: This week Lukas and I are going to do a short, test-venture road trip and see if we can put up with each other and get content up on all of the above sites by next Saturday. If we can, and nobody talks me out of this (and I won’t be telling my wife, kids, brother and financial advisor guy down at the bank) I’ll keep this thing going. So stay tuned!
Youtube page will be up next. Followed by the Twitter and then the Instagram. (Who knows how long Lukas will be around; he gets job offers wherever he goes. If I don’t have a tech guy, my luddite head is gonna explode.)
Of course, your broadcast will be available worldwide, right?
The Voice of Freedom in the Bitterroot! Accept nothing less! Go for it, Dan!
